The one where no one left their homes...

As full of spirit as the month of May, and as gorgeous as the sun in Midsummer. -William Shakespeare We know it’s not been great, we know none of this is easy... but we hope that by giving you a list of the days “celebrated” throughout May, you may find something to become involved with, or to make you smile. #StayPositive

Some of the ways we are looking at celebrating in May 2020

3rd May 2020 Dawn Chorus Day

A celebration of nature's symphony “Taking place on the first Sunday of May, International Dawn Chorus Day is the worldwide celebration of nature's greatest symphony.” All across the world people rise early to revel in the sweet sound of birdsong, from rattling wrens in Rotherham to crooning cowbirds in the Caribbean.”

Open your windows wide, pop your head into the garden and listen for what you can hear, post about it on your feeds, or compile a “song sheet bingo” to tick off birds. A #StayAtHome activity that we can all take part in. Suggested Hashtags for Instagram; (You can use up to 30 tags on Instagram) #DawnChorusDay #DawnChorus #BirdSong

4th May 2020 Star Wars Day. “May the 4th Be With You” Do you know your Jabba the Hutt from your Pizza Hut, or your Yoda from your Yogi Bear? Today is the day to find out more, watch the films, learn the quotes ... make a storm trooper helmet from a mop bucket, grab two cinnamon buns on your essential shop and recreate Princess Leia’s hair ...embrace the “dark side" and make people laugh. We all need a bit more laughter in our lives at the moment. Disclaimer: Please, for the love of Yoda, don't confuse Star Wars and Star Trek... they aren't the same and you're really not allowed to say that they are.

12th May 2020International Nurses Day

If ever there was a time to really celebrate Nurses on international Nurse Day it’s now.

National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale's birthday.

Clap that bit louder, sign the petitions, phone people that need a chat, tell a nurse you appreciate them, reinforce the #stayhome #savelives - Listen to what your local hospital is saying on their media and share that message ...do whatever it takes. just, stay at home.

21st May 2020 World Meditation Day Whilst the world is topsy turvy and we have become used to living with anxiety of the unknown we think giving meditation a bash can only be a good thing. We will hopefully be working with some experts (that we have worked with in the past) to provide you with some guided meditation but these are a few other ways that you can take part: “How to celebrate World Meditation Day Celebrating World Meditation Day is best done by setting some time aside for yourself to clear your mind and relax.

22nd May 2020 New Moon (in Gemini)

Astrologers will tell you that with the new moon in gemini, now is the time for making connections, starting new projects and talking to people, Perhaps you could look at starting a blog or a vlog, why not begin writing down some ideas of the content you would share with your audience. Make some mini vlogs on your phone or utilise the story mode on instagram and Facebook to introduce yourself / your business / your day.

All Month

Mogwais top 5 things to remember,

1) Perhaps the most important note for this month... Be kind, be kind to yourself and to others. Yes, we all heard the analogy of “were all in the same boat” and maybe we are... but our seas are different. Some days are plain sailing and some days your caught in the most horrific storm with no sign of the horizon. If you’re having a day where your seas are calm and your bobbing along, reach out to a friend and be their anchor or just offer them a hand paddling to shore.

2) Don't be so hard on yourself

Did you see that Facebook post of the perfect family? you know the ones... the ones all sat around the table eating healthy snacks and having fun whilst learning fractions. The ones that made you feel inferior as you threw chicken nuggets in the oven for the 5th time this week and rued the times you drew hearts around your name and the school heart throb on your school book instead of paying attention in your school maths lessons. Well, they are coping too. There’s no right way and wrong way to get through this ... just keep going... keep pushing through and deal with each day a “fraction at a time”

3) Mental Health Mental Health and whatever that means to you... Maybe you have spent this lockdown time learning a new skill, brushing up on your french or finishing that jumper you started knitting 3 years ago... or, maybe you've binge watched the internet and learned more about #CaroleBaskin than you ever needed or wanted to. Again, there's no right or wrong way...you are not dealing with the situation incorrectly because you haven't (up until now) invested time learning that “pamplemousse” is the french word for grapefruit. You are dealing in your own way in a pandemic and that's all you need to do.

Just be aware and remember that there are support networks available, be that video calls with friends and family, or posting more than usual on Facebook groups... or indeed reaching out to some of the fantastic organisations that are in place to support you.

4) Make Plans

Take time to thing about what you will do in the future. What you can’t wait to do as soon as the world begins to move in way we understand.

Write them down.

Draw them.

Plan for them.

5) Have a break If you spend all day listening to the news and find that you are feeling anxious and loaded ... stop! If Facebook is making you feel guilty for “not doing enough of this” or “doing too much of that” put the phone down and do something else, maybe take some time for yourself, you could run a bath, read a book..

just be kind to yourself ... you're doing a great job
